Highline Beta and Kolab Ventures Launch and Fund Lounn, Mexico’s Top SMB Financial Lending Marketplace

In 2024, we started working with Kolab Ventures on building and funding new startups. Kolab Ventures is the innovation and entrepreneurship lab for Grupo Koval, which runs a number of connected businesses in venture capital, real estate and more. Through our collaboration we focused on Fintech in Mexico, because we saw immense potential to bring new solutions to the market.

We explored a number of ideas and opportunities through our venture building process. Ultimately we landed on a significant problem: SMBs in Mexico struggle to get the right financing to grow their businesses. In addition, lenders struggle to find quality, verified leads. The entire process of lending in Mexico is complicated and sluggish. But there are many borrowers and lenders eager to work together to remove friction and succeed.

“Our goal was to partner with Kolab Ventures and identify big, meaningful problems worth solving in the Mexican market and beyond,” said Marcus Daniels. “We did a ton of research, tested many ideas, and ultimately landed on an opportunity that we’re all very excited about.”

During our validation process we met Jesus Gomez, CEO and Founder of Lounn. We were uncovering very similar challenges and opportunities to what Jesus had, and saw a ton of potential in joining forces.

As a result, Highline Beta and Kolab Ventures decided to invest in Lounn and bring the company into our venture studios. Lounn has now completed the first close of their USD $1M pre-seed financing round and re-launched with a new brand. The company will have access to both Highline Beta and Kolab Ventures as we support product development, go-to-market and scaling the business.

Lounn is a B2B marketplace for SMBs to find the right financial products to grow. SMBs join the platform, provide their relevant business information and Lounn matches them to lenders. To-date, Lounn has helped nearly 100 SMBs get USD $15M+ in financing, and they’re only just beginning. 

Over the next twelve months, with the funding raised, Lounn expects to scale significantly, operationalizing more of the loan management process for lenders and borrowers, expanding into enhanced AI automation, while further expanding go-to-market through the new brand.
