Highline Beta Launches WorkLearn Labs, Focused on Bridging the Gap Between AI Strategy, Execution & Learning

WorkLearn Labs

Two months ago, we announced that we were working with Amadeu Ferreira on a startup in the AI Education space. Today, the company goes live.

Introducing: WorkLearn Labs

Through our research, we’ve learned a few key things:

  1. Every company (across every industry) is exploring how to use AI.
  2. Unfortunately, most are doing it in a haphazard way.
  3. Some start “top down” by exploring how AI can help strategically. This is a good place to start, but often leads to analysis paralysis and running in circles.
  4. Some start “bottom up” allowing employees to try tools, experiment and figure things out. This is a good place to start too, but often leads to a chaotic mess of disconnected initiatives.

The key is bridging the gap between strategy and execution, and by extension learning. We’ve seen Tobi Lutke, CEO of Shopify and Luis von Ahn, CEO of Duolingo throw down the gauntlet, “We must all go AI first. Don’t ask for new resources, see if AI can do it first.” (We’re paraphrasing; here are the two memos: 1 | 2).

But what does that actually mean? How do the 12,000+ employees of those two companies take proper action and apply AI successfully, while simultaneously upgrading their own skillsets?

There’s a ton of AI education out there. The content is endless. But most of it is theoretical and not actionable, or very specific but difficult to follow (because it’s not specifically designed for your exact use case). With new tools emerging daily and things changing insanely fast in the AI landscape, it’s near impossible for anyone to keep up, let alone apply AI properly in their jobs.

That’s why Amadeu and Highline Beta are building WorkLearn Labs. Our goal is to combine strategy + action to drive learning and help companies of all sizes apply AI successfully.

“The AI explosion is starting to look like Pandora’s Box,” said Marcus Daniels, CEO of Highline Beta. “The potential is massive, but so are risks and unknowns. Employees can’t upskill fast enough, companies are scrambling without strategies in place, and chaos is settling in. WorkLearn Labs bridges strategy, execution and applied learning - so that you don’t just learn, you level up by doing.”

WorkLearn Labs starts by giving people a quick way to align AI projects with an overall strategy. The strategy can live at the executive, management, team or individual level. From there, you can prioritize projects and generate blueprints--which are the fundamental building blocks of the WorkLearn Labs product--vetted, step-by-step guides that you can action immediately. Learn while doing. It’s the best way.

Each AI project, supported by a blueprint, bubbles up to the overall strategy, linking strategy and delivery in an important way, ultimately delivering more value to everyone involved.

Co-Creating with AI Salon

We’re also excited to announce the co-creation partnership with AI Salon global, focusing on a blended learning pilot with its 40+ chapters around the world. Yesterday, Amadeu presented WorkLearn Labs at the AI Salon Toronto chapter to a group of AI enthusiasts, corporates, founders and consultants. We’ll be continuing to work with AI Salon and their founder, Jeff Abbott, to promote and scale WorkLearn Labs globally.

Next Steps

We’ll continue to build WorkLearn Labs with Amadeu, bringing the product to market and learning quickly.
